Social Code of Conduct

 

Gretsky rule applies - social only player can score a maximum of 3 goals per game. Assists are unlimited

For players who also play in QHL they can only score one goal per game.

For players who also play in Jurassic they can only score two goals per game.

Please use your own integrity when it comes to goal scoring, if you've scored your limit of goals be honest.

No slap shots above the waist.

In general. Don't Be a Dick on the Ice and GS's ONLY apply. Social league is designed to be competitive but FUN.

Ring Ins/Fill ins. Players who are not on your roster may be used, provided the opposition team are comfortable with them playing. Please check with the opposing captain before the game and sign off with the score box before puck drop.

Due to demand for player sports in Social League you can only play for one team.

To be eligible for the play offs, a player must have played a minimum of 4 games during the regular season and have paid their QIHC membership fee.

NEW Suspensions = if a player gets ejected from the game for serious misconduct e.g. fighting or dangerous play he or she will earn a suspension. They may be stood down for 1-2games depending on the result of an investigation into the incident.

 

Code of conduct - Senior Players

 

Senior players are expected to meet the following standards of behaviour:

  • Play hockey for enjoyment above all other things.
  • Communicate with team coaches and managers about their availability and health.
  • Learn the rules of ice hockey, submitting to the rulings of officials without argument.
  • Be on time and properly equipped for all practices and games.
  • Aim for improvement in all aspects of their game.
  • Support their team and team members on and off the ice.
  • Respect opponents through good sportsmanship.
  • Respect coaches and managers, listen to and follow their instructions.
  • Respect the rules of the team this may be in different environments and facilities.
  • Encourage others to play ice hockey through role modelling and promoting the sport positively.

Players can have the following expectations:

  • Have fun on and off the ice.
  • Play in a safe, supportive environment.
  • Be able to ask questions and learn more about the game of ice hockey.
  • Have quality coaching and develop as a player.
  • To be included within a team and club.
  • To be provided a safe environment with all reasonable risks taken into account.
  • Be able to ask questions of the Association and its coaches and officials at an appropriate time and place.

Queenstown Ice Hockey has a zero tolerance policy towards:

  • Verbal abuse, physical abuse, fighting, or any other unsportsmanlike behaviour
  • ‘Hazing’ or other team or rookie initiation rituals.
  • Performance enhancing or illegal drug use.
  • Alcohol consumption by senior members immediately before or during on-ice activities.
  • We support a smoke free and vaping free environment. 

 

 

Any player, parent, coach or official who engages in this behaviour faces disciplinary consequences.
